Located in Kirinyaga County, the Kamwangi washing station, also known as the Kamwangi Coffee Factory, is managed by the New Ngariama Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Society. The cooperative has 1,800 smallholder farmer members, growing on volcanic soil along the slopes of Mount Kenya. Employing Kenya's traditional double-soak method, the coffee undergoes fermentation for 24–28 hours, followed by soaking for 12–72 hours. The resulting coffee contains a vibrant acidity and flavor profile consisting of dark fruits. Certified by the Rainforest Alliance and operating under the Nyeri umbrella, the Cooperative champions conservation efforts like wastewater management, organic fertilization, and tree planting.
