Currently, Origins Washed is sourced from Daye Bensa in Sidama, Ethiopia. Daye Bensa is a coffee processing and exporting company founded by the two Dukamo brothers in 1996. It has over 2500 different members. They export coffee from their own farms and affiliated farmers throughout Ethiopia. Daye Bensa specializes in a variety of grades and qualities of coffee, but they have made a name for themselves by consistently placing in the top spots of the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence. This lot was brought in by Keffa Coffee and is of the Heirloom varieties 74110/74112. It hails from the Sidama region, specifically Daye Bensa's Qonqan washing station.
This coffee is a washed process, meaning it goes through a water soaking process to remove the mucilage from the beans once the outer skin and cherry is removed, mechanically. It then goes through a drying process until it is ready to be sent to us.
